πŸ‘Š Domi's favourite Things - Issue #13

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡³ East to West πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ (and little Europe In-Between) πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί

Read time: 4.40 Minutes

Servus my Jedi-Knights & May the 4th be with you,

last week I reported to you straight out from Salzburg, hope you liked the Issue.Β πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ή

This Time my weekly Update is a bit influenced by Stories of a recent Read. (Got a bit bored in Holidays)

Because I try to get a better understanding of China and how their Uprising will influence all of us in the next years, I currently reading Frank Sieren's "Zukunft? China!". (Sadly only a German-Version)

So we jump a bit into why the AI-Moon-Landing happened in Asia and why innovative German Carmakers have to leave Germany...

The Things we are digging in Today:

  1. πŸ‘©β€πŸš€ Alpha Go - The Apollo Landing Moment of AI happend already 2016 πŸŒ•

  2. πŸ₯· How three German Musketeers try to innovate EV's from Palo Alto πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

  3. #Twitter-Box: πŸ€ Some Business-Wisdom from the Greek Freak πŸ‡¬πŸ‡·

  4. #Domi's favourite 5 - Random Tires Edition πŸ›ž

# 1 - πŸ‘©β€πŸš€ The Apollo Landing 2.0 - We People from Europe just didn't got it πŸŒ•

If you think that with the Rise and Presentation of ChatGTP 3 and the whole Media Buzz around it you experienced the first AI-Breakthrough, then I have to tell you that you're sadly wrong.

The real Moon Landing happened already in 2016 in Asia. You may remember the little News in the Western Outlets that AlphaGo, an AI written to play the Game Go and use Deep Learning to improve, won against the world best Player Lee Sedol.

Here is a Quote of March 9, 2016 (Game Day):

"The Game of Go is the holy grail of artificial intelligence. Everything we've ever tried in AI, it just falls over when you try the game of Go." - Dave Silver, Lead Researcher for AlphaGo. (He just played what AlphaGo told him)

This full and free Documentary shows the full picture of what really happened that day...

You also may ask yourself, if that was such a big moment, why we don't understood that in Europe? I tell you why. Because Go as a Game is not that wide spread in the West like Chess. (Big in China & Korea)

But unlike Chess, Go is even more Strategic and more Intuitive in terms of playing.

Just to give you a number: "60 Million People" watched the Game between Lee and Alpha live via Stream. And don't underestimate China in Terms of AI, a lot of Experts are ranking them even higher than the US in regards of AI-Innovation-Capabilities.

# 2 - πŸ₯· German Nina-Engineering from Palo Alto πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Let's talk German Automakers. We all know the Talk of the last Years. The German Car Industry is running late on EV's and new Car-Innovation...

From the West, the Guy called Elon and Tesla is pushing strong and from the East, the whole Country of China is left on the Autobahn overtaking us.

But three auld german Car-Managers are here to safe us with a Hell Mary. At least they try to... (Especially China is a fast growing Power in the EV-Markets of the Future)

The Founders Stefan Krause (Ex-CFO Deutsche Bank), Karl-Thomas Neumann (Ex-CEO Opel) und Ulrich Kranz (Ex-Project i BMW) went to Palo Alto and started Canoo with the Vision to build the next EV-Platform.

Just have look here how german Engineers think of the Future for Autos...

This is Story is also from the Book mentioned at the Start. The three Founders of Canoo answered the question, why they build their Startup in Palo Alto, with the following: "Because european & german Automakers laughed at us when we tried to convince them to invest in small and smart EV-Tech, instead they just building big SUV's as an EV-Version."

So they use the Funding and the Workforce of the US and they let manufacture their Cars in China. Because Europe has currently not just a lack of the necessary Capabilities, they also not believe that in the Future of Mega Cities and Autonomous Driving, the Customers are not caring about how many horsepowers etc. your car has...

This Story should teach us a lesson to be open minded about new technology and take at least China as a serious Player in who is building the Future. (Just look at BYD and their Batteries-Industry)

#Twitter-Box: πŸ€ Some Business-Wisdom from the Greek Freak πŸ‡¬πŸ‡·Β

A Nugget for your Motivation. Giannis the "Greek Freak" has some great Wisdom for us.

This is not just in Sports the right Opinion.

Giannis lost recently against the Miami Heat in the first Playoff-Round, despite being the best Team in the Season.

Of course he got questioned..

We all know that feeling of thinking your career is stuck or else. But it is just important to show up and stay curious. Giannis won his first Championship 20/21 and with this attitude he will win probably some again. It's not a lost year and just take your time.
